Team Leadership (Part 2)

The first step towards team leadership is to reinforce our makeup: to see that God created us unique AND for community. This relational connection it built into the very fiber of our being, the DNA of our spirit.

As stated in the creation story, Genesis 1:26, “Let us make man in Our image, in Our likeness.” The phrase “in Our image” indicates we are made as a reflection of Him (a relational God), a reflection of the divine interdependency found in the community of the Father/Son/Holy Spirit.

And so communal or team leading might be the most sacred of leadership pursuits!…as a Christian theology of leadership contemplates the model of a triune God.

We see this collaborative design in the Trinity, which literally means, “circle dance” showing a clear unity, intimacy, and equality of one God, yet three distinct persons in constant movement. (Cladis)

What if our leadership reflected more of God’s image in which we were designed to be communal? What if our leadership reflected more of the Trinity? Would it be more like the dance of team leadership or the marching of dictatorship?
