As I definitely felt like a fish out of water at the Straight Up Conference, redemption and satisfaction finally came from C.J. Mahaney, president of Sovereign Grace Ministries.

  2. Thanks for the other side. No question there is always another side to church leadership and particular bents that one inteprets scripture and leads.

    I don’t think we are ever in a position where we completely agree with our church’s leadership. That is where scripture calls us toward unity, not uniformity.

    However, if there are issues for you particularly, that become major theological or pragmatic differences that in turn realign you towards a different eschatological vision, then yes, departing is probably essential.

    When it comes to his talk, he was right on in my opinion. When it comes to his church planting ministry or leadership philosophy, I am unaware of it…so thanks for the insight…though not sure that negates the truth found in his strong message.
