Family Vacation Byproducts

Having your children vacation over school days can always be a rather delicate matter.  As you want your child to receive a solid education, not falling behind in his or her work, there are also those unforgettable experiences with family that go well beyond the impact of teachings from a classroom.

Unfortunately, when you return you sometimes have to deal with the ramifications of receiving phone calls like this from your son’s math teacher:

And as I am sitting there on the phone realizing the terrible parenting I have displayed, there are then those other vacation byproducts that bring balance…as seen here by my youngest son’s letter to his grandparents (the providers of vacation-Disney):

A letter like that makes those times with family well worth the sacrifice (although we receive their report cards in a week, so the jury may still be out on this one).
